One of the many classics I'd never actually read.  Have read other Austen novels, but not this one, her most famous.  The usual Austen wit and keen character study abounds in the novel.  Frankly, however, I found it hard to feel empathy for any of the characters.  I suspect that is a function of age, on some level.  At a younger age, it might have resonated more for me.  But it feels dated, to me, in a way the Persuasion does not.

I suppose that Persuasion feels more real to me, because I know what it is to have made choices in life that I later regretted.  Not for months, as in P&P, but for years.  And the final conclusion of Persuasion is hopeful, for me, in a way that P&P is not.
