I cull the seeds of every interesting thing I buy (and sometimes the roots and stems) and try to grow them. Even at about 50 percent success rate it is so much fun. I'm constantly discovering new crops--fennel, heirloom cherry tomatoes, every manner of sweet pepper on the planet, cippolini onions, new herbs. I'm NOT a great gardener, just an enthusiastic one.
i love that you are doing this. You could write a diary and share this with us. Real encouraging.

Because the "genetically engineered" and hybrid plastic stuff you buy there seldom germinates. But my green market friends grow FOOD and aren't afraid to leave roots on a bit of cilantro or a cipollini onion.
