Is it not obvious that change would occur slowly, in light of this observation?

The Constitution from its origin is a device designed with the intent legislative change should occur slowly...
Slow, incremental change is the normal course of events through human history. The episodes of quick sudden change are rare exceptions to the norm.

There is nothing unusual about this, and this usual course of events has led to a steady long-term improvement in the human condition.

So choose despair, or choose something else. I reccomend choosing something else. despair doesn't  accomplish anything.

    •  we hase a definate disagreement as to the (6+ / 0-)

      direction of these changes.

What has improved for the majority?

      Real Wages?
      Education?
      Housing?
      Health?
      Retirement benefits?
      Women's rights?
      Indebtedness?

      Are these improving?

Let's see. In the US, women could not vote as recently as 94 years ago. So n the course of hisory yeah, I'd say women's rights have gottne a wee bit more bearable.

Your blindness is more absolute than I first imagined. This is really very sad.

Does it ever occur to you that you would never hold progressive opinions nor survive to express them, had not the human condition made tremendous progress?

At any rate. My work here is done. Anyone unfortunate to stumble into this despair-fest will know not everyone is buys this just-complain/do-nothing silliness.
