      and learn skills that would help others as well as yourself in emergencies. You could report something out-of-place to your local law enforcement authorities. You could check on a neighbor (or have them agree to check on you). You could let local emergency providers know in advance if you'll need help evacuating (this is a big element of nuclear power plant evacuation zone planning, for instance.) You could organize an e-mail notification list of neighbors on your street.

      Those who do not understand history are condemned to repeat it... in summer school.
