    ...for this sort of relatively swift, generally positive resolution from the moment I heard that a terrorist attack had touched Boston.

    I have no doubt that any American city would rally in the face of terror. But not every American city has the hundreds of years of unique cultural identity that Boston does. Law enforcement asked for the entire city to basically shut down, and a lively debate spawned online about police states and civil liberties ... and Boston, by and large, shut down, because that's what the people of Boston could do to help.

    Heck, they found this guy when a civilian walked out to the bloodstained boat in his backyard to see what was under the torn tarp!

    For the quality and competence of its law enforcement, and the unflappable determination of its citizens, even amidst the tragedy, Boston has a lot to be proud of tonight. And I have no doubt that next year's Marathon will set all kinds of records. Endurance, indeed.
