Fundamentalists believe that if you don't tell kids about sex, you can still convince yourself they haven't already figured it out.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.

earth is only 6000 years old. They can't seem to wrap their brains around how the drive to procreate is part of our genetic code, just like every other species.

I spoke to the Anchorage School Board years ago when the local fundies were fighting sex ed. Pointed out that teachers don't worry about kids going out and doing trig if they are taught algebra, or writing plays if they are taught grammar.

They also ignore the amount of sexual information and misinformation we are all exposed to thanks to advertising. When my 28 year old daughter was 4, the local NBC station was advertising the weekend movies. She asked "Mom, what's a two stud weekend?"

Our church has had a very intense sex and sexuality class at junior high level for decades. (Among other things, they had to go to a store and purchase a condom, which was used in the class exercise on how to put them on properly.) After both my kids took it, they were overwhelmed at the ignorance and misconceptions of their school peers. They could not even try to point out the errors because of the derision, etc.

My daughter had to go to one of these seminars ~ 2000, and was fascinated watching the girls who were known to be the most willing to have sex, go up to the speaker afterwards and fawn all over her. Which she and the principal swallowed. Made me think of the drug era when officers would pass a board with covered drugs around a class so students would know what they looked like. Got to the point they came back with more items than they went out with.

EXcellent that one student started fighting an administration approved intrusion of religious ignorance into their schools.
