    you had to be a member if you wanted to be on the football team.

    Or, to be more accurate, if you were on the football team, then you were a member. I don't recall there being any forms or an induction or anything. Everyone got a helmet, shoulderpads and an FCA membership. Didn't think much about it at the time. Seems really weird now.

      having to march in to graduation to "Onward Christian Soldiers" at Rockville High School (high school of Mark Warner, who was one year behind me) was a violation of church and state.  For the record, I refused to march in to that tune and after a certain amount of hoo-haw, the school caved and thus ended that tradition.  Being Jewish in a small town in eastern Connecticut back then took work.

      If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? When I am only for myself, then what am "I"? And if not now, when?
