  •  Fire was no accident apparently. (8+ / 0-)

The plant did a "controlled burn" to "get rid of brush and pellets".   Acts of sheer stupidity do not get to be called "accidents".

Tens of thousands of gallons of ammonia.  Tons of ammonium nitrate.  And they are intentionally starting a brush fire?????

I don't have enough profanity in my vocabulary to say just how spectacularly dumb this is.

Said "School official angry" that they didn't get an advance notice that they were going to do this.

said this wasn't the first time that this plant has done a controlled burn, and that the school officials had demanded advanced notice of future burns.  (and they were pissed that they didn't get it this time, and that was before the explosion.).

So this one is looking like it might be real.

        ThunderVest on today.
        Yes. It helps her.
Even though it's but an anecdote.
(I would like to get some royalties from the ThunderVest but I never will. I have no financial interest in this company, but their product has helped my dog's anxiety.)

The plant has done on-premises burning of "brush and pallets".  One such burn took place in Feb, and resulted in an emergency evacuation of the school.  Don't yet know if today's event is another "planned" event, or some other cause.

Fishgrease has some more details here.
