    last night about this - how stupidly sited this plant was, and how few people in the town recognized or understood the dangers. Like that guy who took his family out to watch the fire... he's lucky their vehicle wasn't sent airborne! And this in a place where they ALL know what tornadoes can do. Maybe that fatalism is a contributor, along with the fact that the town probably depended on that plant for both livelihood and tax base.

    One of the plant owners was interviewed (somewhere) last night, said no one was at the plant when a volunteer firefighter saw smoke and called it in. Looks like they didn't know about the dry stores either - probably stockpiled because it's spring. The plant wasn't a big operation as I figured from interviews, supplied local farmers. There are much, much bigger fertilizer plants along the ammonia pipeline(s).
