over your inablilty to square this statement's circularity, expressing as it does a 'factual' statement without evidentiary support:

[B]lue dogs are a DIRECT RESULT of Dean's 50 state strategy...

Enough fossil fuel remains on Earth to warm it 6 degrees C by 2100 AD if it is all used. A +6 C planet will only sustain half a billion humans. Human population will rise to 9 billion by 2050. Any questions?

    •  you're telling me I need to produce evidence that (0+ / 0-)

dean's strategy got a Dem elected to a senate seat in Montana in 2007?

I thought this was common knowledge.

      but ok.  excuse the wiki:

Dean's strategy arguably paid off in a historic victory as the Democrats took over control of the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2006 mid-term elections. While it is likely this is also attributable to the shortcomings of the Republican Party in their dealings with the Iraq War and the scandals that occurred shortly before the election, Dean's emphasis on connecting with socially conservative, economic moderates in Republican-dominated states appears to have made some impact. Indeed, Democratic candidates won elections in such red states as Kansas, Indiana, and Montana.

      •  Max Bauccus was elected Senator in 1978 (9+ / 0-)

I'm not gonna argue with you that Howard Dean's 50 state strategy did get some Blue Dogs elected with help from Rahm Emmanuel...

But Howard Dean isn't what got Max Baucus into the Senate.

        Just sayin'

      •  Look up Majority Leader (4+ / 0-)

Senator Mike Mansfield who served in the US Senate from 1953 to 1977.  Testor was not the first Democrat ever elected in Montana.

        with the phrase I blockquoted.

"Arguably" in English means and is a colloquial contraction of the phrase "an argument can be made for the following conclusion." The other three words I underlined from your evidence all also mitigate against "DIRECT RESULT" as clearly as "arguably."

In a way, your misapprehension about whose policies got Baucus elected to the Senate illustrates the ahistorical nature of our American culture. Blue Dog Democrats have been a part of the party and its power structure since before they were named blue dogs. They were the Democratic Party's natural political response to Nixon's successful southern strategy.

What Dean did was to revive a principle which used to be a hallmark of a party in which I've been an active member for 53 years. It was not new with Governor Dean.
