  •  a Democrat doesn't have a chance in SC-3 (0+ / 0-)

there was a Democrat in the last 4 elections and even though the county parties helped w/ the campaigns, all 4 election results fell in the range of 65% R, 35% D.

and no DCCC help at all.

    •  I plan on doing a SC-03 diary soon (0+ / 0-)

But regardless, Democrats need to stop being such wimps.  We have so much ammunition and yet we're so scared of conservatives.

      •  when i lived in the 3rd (0+ / 0-)

the potential candidates had no money and no real $upport from any big national Democratic groups -eg DCCC

my county was in the 2nd and 3rd district ( so our Dem party had to work on 2 campaigns) but because of redistricting, our county is now in the 2nd district only.

finding a candidate is difficult when it takes well over $500k to have a serious shot at winning here.  our supporters don't have a lot of money but a lot of spirit and try their best at phone banking and canvassing.   and since the PTB  won't/don't throw money here in SC, potential candidates walk away knowing there's very little chance to win, so why waste the time and effort?

the only reason Rob Miller did relatively well was because of Joe Wilson's "You Lie" moment. contributions started rolling in for him from Dems (even members of DKos) around the country (only then did the DCCC get involved)  AND for Joe from the repubs and teabaggers.

without strong support from VIPs in the Dem Party, we don't stand much of a chance -- it's even difficult to win local/state races (city/county council) in the 2nd and 3rd district!!

uphill battles but we continue to persevere!
