Which is a community moderated site, so I am fulfilling my responsibility as a moderator by alerting you to a major infraction that is in your power to correct. At least I have offered to pull my HR if you do so, a substantial number of other posters have not been so generous.

    •  I am not concerned about HRs, and the title is my (0+ / 0-)

own, and Reuters and the authors are credited.  I have nothing to add, and to save readers inconvenience, I have included the entire article.  Anything else you require?

What you've done is illegal, and most people try not to deliberately break the law, and even appreciate getting a heads up if they inadvertently do so. Apparently you have  different approach. Enjoy the rest of your day.

      •  Here's the link to U.S. Copyright Office Page on (5+ / 0-)

        Right to Fair Use.
Note the last sentence in paragraph 3 - "Acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission."
Catte Nappe is looking out for you, and is correct. It's not her requirement, it's the law.
        Hence the H/Rs.

        •  in that case, does everybody on this site (0+ / 0-)

write to the author and publisher to obtain permission before publishing a diary?

          •  No, few need to (6+ / 0-)

There's no need to do that if one follows fair use and just excerpts a bit and fills in the rest with your own words. Sometimes an entire article might be posted because the person posting it is the original author of the piece. And there are times when you'll see a diary where the poster notes, usually right up front, that they have "so-and-so's" permission to post in full.
