  •  He's still on the board... (5+ / 0-)

...until at least 2014 in an advisory role.  Draws a fairly meager salary, but probably made over 100 million personally in the sale.  Rumor is that he was vehemently opposed to the InBev takeover, but some other family members engineered it behind his back.

      Didn't know that...

      Anyway, cheers! :P

        ...if you're interested.

One is called "Dethroning the King: the Hostile takeover of Anheuser Busch, and American Icon" by Julie McIntosh.  The other is "Bitter Brew" by William Knoedelseder.

"Dethroning..." is more specifically about the InBev takeover as the subtitle suggests.  Reads very much like "Barbarians at the Gate" (Which is also worth a read).  The other focuses more on the Anheuser/Busch clan and explores some of the personal stories in more depth...  Much more about the family, and some of the characters in it.  You know how every family has a "crazy uncle Bob" who only shows up for Independence day and tells everyone about the UN conspiracy to get rid of the question mark before using the vacuum cleaner's blower function to superheat the barbecue grill to 1800 degrees, melting aunt Jane's wig in the process?  Yeah, they have family members like that, too.  The only difference is their crazy uncle Bob drives a Rolls Royce and lives in a 9000 square foot mansion in the exclusive [whites only except for Chuck Berry, their 'token' black millionaire] St Louis suburb of Ladue.

But they surround reservations & victimize First Nations.
