  •  Sorry, but I won't be voting for him. (1+ / 0-)

This "I would've voted for the assault weapons ban except it also banned shotguns and hunting rifles" excuse really is the flimsiest of fig leaves.

I did a quick search on this list of weapons Feinstein wanted banned, and under "Shotguns" we find the Saiga 12 (which I picked at random). Google it and see what this "shotgun" actual is.

Sen Udall also voted FOR the concealed carry amendment. I find it astonishing that less than a year after Aurora, we have elected representatives from CO actually voted for less restrictive and imho irresponsible guns laws.

Add to the above that Sen Udall is against a public healthcare option, for a balanced budget amendment and in favor of Bowles-Simpson.

Sorry, but the guy is an idiot. Or if you prefer, Republican-lite.

firearms from growing up around them in the west and reflects the sentiments of his constituency. Every hunting group in the country was against restricting magazines or scary black guns.

Uniformity and reciprocity with conceal carry is an idea that has gained a lot of support.

Not sure if you are from CO but we like him here.

    •  From the senator's own website: (0+ / 0-)

"We need comprehensive solutions that examine our culture's glorification of violence, the effectiveness of our laws, our ability to enforce those laws and access to firearms, especially those designed for the battlefield."

      (emphasis mine.)

So, Senator, an assault weapon is not designed for the battlefield, and that's why you voted against the ban (Feinstein Amendment 711)?

budget and doesn't believe it should be balanced on the backs of the poor.  Plus Udall has one of the best records on civil liberties and one of the most vocal opponent of the indefinite detention clause in the NDAA.  He's the lead Senator who tried to have it removed.  Not to mention his record on environmental and social issues is great.  Certainly far from Republican-lite or an idiot.  He represents a libertarian-leaning state.  I keep telling people here, you want better Democrats in D.C. you have to get progressives elected on a state level first and get progressives issues pushed through on a local level first.  Turn more of those swing states like Colorado to permanent blue status first.
