  •  I was downtown today (9+ / 0-)

police presence was everywhere.  evv. ery. where.

I had a meeting downtown and was grateful to get a ride from a friend at the last minute so I did not have to ride the T.  after the meeting was over i was uneasy about getting on the subway.  there were a lot of police at the Park Street T station, one of the major transfer points.  So I took a roundabout route to get back on the bus--taking the #42 bus to the #1 that would bring me back to Central Square where my office is.

When I got on the #1 bus, a well-traveled bus line that runs through many Boston neighborhoods as it goes down Massachusetts Avenue, a major thoroughfare, there were police at EVERY SINGLE BUS STOP.   There were two police at every bus stop on the number 1 bus until we crossed the river into Cambridge.

I remember thinking, oh, the police protection is only for Boston because that's where the marathon bombing was.

The MIT campus is the first thing you come to after you cross the river, either across the Mass Ave bridge on the #1 bus or across the Longfellow (Salt and Pepper) Bridge on the Red Line subway.

I find it alarming that the violence has jumped the river into Cambridge when (because???) all the area police were in Boston today

Politics is like driving. To go backward put it in R. To go forward put it in D.
