This horrendous act is awful in so many ways.  First and foremost, what a tragedy the deaths and dismemberments of these innocent people at the marathon!  Such an execrable and cruel act!  On top of that, the villains who committed the crime, if, indeed, it was the two suspects that have been identified, will now bring about more hatred of Moslems, more irrational right wing jingoism, more prejudice and violence.  We on the left cannot defend the indefensible act of terrorism, but we now must try to prevent hideous and misdirected repercussions from being the consequence of this cruel act.

9/11 set progressivism back five years (until 2006 elections) as the American people sought refuge under GWB's banner.  Will the left similarly be toast until the 2018 midterms against the GOP White House and Congress?

in united opposition to radical political terrorism immediately after 9/11 - in a show of genuine unified patriotism, and despite our disgust for the election-stealing W. Will the right act likewise?

strictly defined. There seem to be no political objectives involved, and the perpetrators hung around to witness the suffering their bombs caused. I think this attack has more in common with the Columbine massacre and the 2002 Washington, D.C. snipers--two antisocial individuals who fed off each other.

    •  how many innocent people do you know (0+ / 0-)

who own explosive vests, automatic weapons, and carjack people, shooting a cop and everything else?

The pretense that these guys are possibly innocent is, in itself, almost a defense of them.
