I dont think there are many Persian Jews in the US or Europe, and most the Ukranian Jews I have met (who are the children of more recent immigrants, not like from 110 years ago like my family) actually don't self-identify as Jewish.  Maybe thats the effect of surviving under the Soviet regime for so many years.  But you're right, groups like these likely weren't part of the genetic studies conducted.

But would have to be careful. Some Persian Jews came from other places and settled in Persia/Iran and some Ukrainian Jews originally came from Poland (which controlled part of the Ukraine for awhile), Germany or Russia. So the ones who have deep roots there might well be hard to find.
