    A quick net search shows that plant has been there since 1962, 51 years. The people who live next to that plant knew it was there when they moved there.

    I could buy a very cheap house outside Chicago next to an oil refinery, but I didn't. I could buy a house in the Des Plaines river floodplain, but I don't.  I could move to Wrigleyville and then whine about crowds and parking, but I knew better.  

    There's zoning, and then there's being a sentient adult. Are we really supposed to babysit the whole damn planet?  Don't buy a house two blocks from a fertilizer plant that's been there 50 years. It's not that hard.
