Zoning laws, which have to balance protecting the public health, safety and welfare against private property rights can be tricky, especially when people come to the nuisance, as opposed to vica versa.

Factories for the manufacture of gunpowder, and fireworks, slaughterhouses and airports all can present hazards to the public health but, in many instances, the town grew up around the jobs.   This balancing act tips in odd ways in every state of the Union.  It's easy to blame it on a State to Hate, but that's just not fair, kos, and you know better.

Read Village of Euclid v. Ambler Realty Co., the seminal zoning law case, to get a sense of how the law deals with these situations.

The patellar reflex is a deep tendon reflex which allows one to keep one's balance with little effort or conscious thought.
