and I wonder if the wall to wall DKos obsessive coverage contributed to the problem. I think that we need a debrief here about how these events are going to be covered in the future - especially now that coverage has moved from the diaries to the front page.

In short we really are in danger of becoming part of the problem.

consider just having a finite number of diaries all devoted to one subject.

I never really gave it much thought---but now that you bring up the point---there were an awful lot of diaries on this one particular subject.

      We're not a news outlet----we're a political website.

    •  Yes, it was shitful. Breaking, breaking by more (0+ / 0-)

than one person at the same time. Boston was not on lockdown, they asked us to stay home. I was safe, I was out and about in my section of the city.

So many official websites, so many OFFICIAL TWEETERS, so many BOSTON Kossacks. Hello? How many diarists and commenters went there?

A lot of what was posted was garbage.

Local radio, with reporters 20 yards away, could be streamed on the web. I did not see one reference. Not one.
Any Kosmail to Boston groups? I must have missed it.

For "high information" people, DKos was terrible.
