The day after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, my work was closed for a day or two while our office buildings were evaluated for safety.

I went to the local convenience store and found a six-pack of Olympia, which was practically a local beer to a Pacific Northwest Boy like me.  Reminded me of many games of Quarters.  So that was how I spent October 18, 1989, drinking Oly from cans.

During my military career, I had the misfortune to be assigned to an isolated station that had a dearth of different beers.  The ONLY beer available in the exchange or in the O Club (and the E club, as well), was Oly.  After 6 months  on that miserable rock, I swore I would never, ever, drink another Oly.  I actually broke that promise after about 10 years and bought a six pack, but I haven't done it since.
