A world that treasures riches above all else leaves a void--religion fills that void.  Extreme religions--be they variants of Islam, Christianity, or Judaism-- are a reaction to such emptiness.   We don't have a country--or a world-- filled with rewards for ethics or morality.  We are losing a personal touch with modern technology--incidents like this have become frequent around the world yet no one connects the dots.  If we all strive to help our neighbor--not rule him, nor starve him, nor ridicule him, this will end.  Put another way--this will never end--blame materialism--blame the internet--blame crazy religious fanatics--blame inequality.

I wish we had a living Shakespeare to dramatize and educate.  One final note--I've always been amazed that African Americans didn't go the terrorist route--they had--have--so much reason to terrorize and haven't.  I guess they are the best of us.

    Apres Bush, le deluge.
