on violence in America, that does not reference the rapid reduction in violence in America.

It  really is amazing.  Left.  Right.  Mainstream.

You can read hundreds of articles on violence in America, and never read about its rapid decline.

I have come to conclude that the fact just doesn't fit anyone's agenda.  To the right, violence can't be declining because it means that when they say things like Tony Perkins said yesterday it becomes obvious they are full of crap.

Why the silence from the left?  Maybe because we are still more violent than many countries. Which is true - but you would think it worth mentioning that things are getting better.

Really it is quite absurd to write about something and not mention the trend.

so fast that the total of gun deaths will surpass that of car deaths in a couple of years.

So you totally ignore the point that Jackson is making.

Which is how much we can and should be doing to save lives.

      So be it.

in a narrow way, a la Stephen Pinker.

Poverty is violence and poverty in America is increasing. Education is crumbling and that is a violence. and on and on goes the list. That these violences are not the result of aggressions on physical flesh does not make them less violent.

There are moments when the body is as numinous as words, days that are the good flesh continuing. -- Robert Hass

is to break them down before you put them together. So, what kind of [your types] of violence are rapidly declining?

I'll try really hard to fit my agenda to the facts when you lay them out.  But, I'm sure more people died TODAY because some driver was reading email on a smartphone than died Monday from the Boston Marathon bombers.

As an aside, John Cornyn should keep his pompous stupidity in his own state, where they elect and re-elect him to spout it.  Someday, I'd like to see a principled analysis of which states' rights should extend across state line, but it surely won't come from either current Texas senators.
