      In the film, the main female protagonist gets HIV after sleeping with a man who is an allegorical representation of the devil.

      How much more demonizing can you get than to have the Western World's foremost demon be HIV+ and have HIV be the punishment for succumbing to his charms,

      And if you think I'm exaggerating, you may or may not have noticed that the poster for the dang movie is a serpent in the shape of an apple and that Perry's Cassandra-esque southern mother character all but stages an exorcism/hyper-intense prayer circle to get the evil out of her daughter.

      The symbolism in this film is about as subtle as a grenade launcher
