  •  sorry dude.... (0+ / 0-)

..tragedy that people died in Texas...and I saw plenty of news coverage of the event the day it happened and day after but the event in Boston had implications beyond Boston. Nothing like it has ever been seen in the US.

I knew that there would be criticism of media coverage on the two events, it was just a matter of time but personally, I think the whole discussion is a bunch of bullshit.

People in Texas elect their officials and put up with the way that their government is run. They did not deserve but in the extreme, all elections matter.

Personally, I would never live that close to any industrial complex of any kind and please spare me with "these people had no choice". you always have a choice and I question the intelligence of anyone who would allow their children to grow up in that environment. would not surprise me to find % of some illnesses are higher in that area then those that don't house a chemical plant.

mittens=edsel. no matter how much money is spent to promote it, if the product sucks, no one will buy it.

    •  and therein lies the greater national (0+ / 0-)

implications of the West, Texas event.   So many people don't know about the dangers inside a plant near them.  So many people don't have the money to live in a nicer place.   Some people won't care.   It is nice to be superior to these lesser people,  but the point of government is that part of its responsibility is to take account of the lesser not just the superior human beings.

This event can happen in many places in the US,  and it might not be fertilizer next time, but something else.  But the attitude is that it is the fault of the people nearby and not a lack of foresight and planning by the owners of the highly dangerous materials who were profiting from selling it,  a failure of government to serve the public health and safety (hint, the reason government is supposed to exist in this country) makes me wonder why your handle is 'wewantthetruth'.
