    1.  We don't live in a modern world.  Why?  Man kills man far more effectively than any time in human history.  That's not "modern", it's barbaric.  We create weapons for many things, including self defense.  Your righteous anger aside, firearms are meant to kill, that is what they are designed for.
    2.  Our Supreme Court has made it perfectly clear that the police have no duty to protect any one of us.  Will you stand guard at my side 24/7???  If you will not, then who protects me???
    3.  Whom, throughout human history has done the most killing?  Government.  In the last 100 yrs, 270+ million unarmed civilians have been killed by their governments.
    4.  Firearms will not protect any of us from our criminal government today.  They will, within the next 10 yrs, have over 30,000 drones poised to attack anyone they wish.  The only hope we have is to throw them all out and start over.
    5.  The Constitution does not grant me a thing.  I doesn't say I can own anything.  It says that our created government can and cannot do certain things.
    6.  Your morality that unfettered firearm ownership is wrong, is commendable.  Can you enlighten the criminals to your belief system?  What guarantee can you give anyone that if they voluntarily surrender their weapons, the criminals on the street and in our government will do the same?
    7.  Your authoritarian need to control others has ended, for now.

What solutions do you bring to the table?

You see, I do not own a firearm.  Why?  When push comes to shove, I know I would use one, without fear, hesitation or remorse.  When it comes to my life or yours, I would absolutely pull the trigger.  I chose not to become a killer.

Violence is easy, the escalation of violence even easier.  What remedies do you proffer us today to reduce violence, including gun violence in this nation?

You see Sir, as a non-gun owning member of the RKBA group here, none of us have ever suggested that firearms shouldn't be reasonably regulated.

Since that's been taken off the table how about we discuss alternatives?  Maybe now you'll listen to us.

And just in case you're wondering, my personal goal is to wake up in a nation where my fellow citizens don't feel a need to own a firearm.

How do we accomplish this?  How do we address the 600,000+ attempted suicides that include 38,000+ "successful" ones?  That's one person every 14 minutes killing themselves.

    Why?

Why has suicide increased 15% since 1990 while firearm ownership has decreased by 20%???

I could reiterate this diary, but I won't waste any more of you time tonight.  My solutions are contained therein.

Take some time, deal with your justified anger and then help us find solutions to the problems that we must now face honestly.

We really do want the same things, we just don't agree on the proposed solutions.
