    out on her own unless in an absolute enclosed space (top and bottom).

    If your yard is fenced... and it's a good secure fence and it's your fence, you can add angled additions to keep her within the yard.  But it does mean you check every single spot along the fence to ensure there is no way out.

    Don't think that if I cat gets loose outside she will always know how to find home.  For those not used to being outside, they have no reference to what home is from the outside!

    Now with mine, since my house is the only one he knows, and he's been going out on a leash for 7 years now, he knows his back door and knows his home (evidenced by his being sometimes spooked by some new sound and he will turn tail and pull me back to the back door which is the only door we use when he goes out and in.)
