    OTOH, Space-X may run rings around OS, which may return to bite the latter in their ass when contract renewal comes up.

    •  The OS contract was mostly to keep (6+ / 0-)

      the Shuttle infrastructure alive through their ATK upper stage - the same reason Boeing is getting the other part of the Commercial Crew development contract.  And there is a plausible excuse for it - a hedge against SpaceX not being able to deliver, or having supply chain issues at any given time.  So I'm not against the contract, but I do hope Orbital's people are considering "ambitionizing" their plans to keep up.
