  •  Well it is 1968 Cranky McCrankerson (3+ / 0-)

Society is undergoing an extremely rapid social change and is coming to terms with being duped into a bullshit war. Very similar to today. The show is going to be very relevant this year and I think the producers are going to try hard to show that.

Mad Men appears to be moving away from the whole era of the "Playboy" Hamm into more of a show about social commentary.

His kids are growing up, he's becoming more estranged from them, and he's finding that as you get older you go from playboy to creepy old man.

Same behavior, different response from those around you.

Just like some guys get stuck in their teens, and never grow up, don got stuck in that young hotshot mode, except its starting to dawn on him that he's not that young, or that much of a hotshot, anymore.

      •  you're so right (0+ / 0-)

you just made me remember what joan said at the beginning of the series. joan told peggy that don didn't have to date women in the office. then later on don started to get pathetic and sad and he pretty much only hooked up w/ women in the office. plus hookers.

        you're so right about him.
