    Let's try to imagine a ground-based analogy for the Space Shuttle: Instead of driving long distances, you need a vehicle for just moving around town.  What do you build?  A small, efficient, cheap, safe compact auto?  Nope.  You build the world's biggest RV, build it to run on nitroglycerine, make it out of materials that are constantly falling apart every time you go on a drive, and have to rebuild it with the equivalent of weeks of down-time for every single commute.

      "oh look - is that a young Captain Picard in a pre-ST:TNG role?" in regard to part of the parts of the movie that I enjoyed.
