  •  I'm having no trouble at all (16+ / 0-)

seeing how this benefits Americans, but sometimes always what benefits America is not in Republican interests.

These Publicans have painted themselves in a corner, since Obama was inaugurated they've claimed it was cloudy every time the Administration said the sky was blue.

Now they can't walk back their knee jerk instinct to play the opposite game for every single initiative.

Without increasing the Latino and Female vote, the Publican Party will remain a party of exclusively small market victories.

We've been spelling it wrong all these years. It's actually: PRO-GOP-ANDA

    •  I have been thinking that the GOP no longer (4+ / 0-)

marches behind one leader.  Though I believe the authoritarian perspective is why so many were willing to simply do what they were told to do in the past, with the encouragement of the Tea Party things have changed.

Even if the Tea Party was supposed to be a ruse that would fade away when it was no longer needed, it has somehow metastasized and even linked up with the Koch driven, Paul lead libertarians.

Democrats have a tradition of diversity requiring the hard work of forming coalitions.  In my opinion one of the President's most amazing abilities is to facilitate this.  Up and down the line various stripes of Democrats are working together to make progress.

What I am trying to say is that we have a head start on this inclusiveness, for example we struggle every day with it on this site and find a way forward.  The GOP will eventually find it needs to learn this as well and not just through dissembling and hoping nobody notices their true positions.

      •  No, their voters will vote for "purity" every time (0+ / 0-)

That is why they are so monochromatic.

precinct, and county I know many stalwart GOP members that still think of themselves as the party of Lincoln, small business, integrity, etc.  Some of them are starting to show they feel orphaned and have asked what does it mean to be a Democrat in our state.  I find that a fascinating question.  I have put them on my email list and judiciously sent information that is not disdainful of the GOP but supports common sense, plurality of views, integrity, etc. hoping they will feel intrigued.

for the picking.  Really, government health care would take a burden off them,  and thoughtful regulation keeps the playing field even.

These capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert to fleece the people, and now that they have got into a quarrel with themselves, we are called upon to appropriate the people's money to settle the quarrel. Abraham Lincoln
