    that prefers to mitigate the fisheries damage from the various dams, locks, water withdrawals, and so on, rather than undo the damage.

    And you are right, there seems to be a different and somewhat unique salmonoid-type population in practically every significant river in the NW; even different runs at different times of the year.

    And few folks have even looked at some of the associated runs, like the lamprey.

    The smelt (Thaleichthys pacificus) runs are listed as endangered now. They go from the ocean to several preferred rivers, too.  Their former abundance in the Cowlitz and Sandy rivers are legendary.

    But to me the Willamette runs are extra special because you can literally fish for them right downtown in Portland. Well, you can after they get past the stretch of the Willamette that's a Superfund site.

    Orly, it isn't evidence just because you downloaded it from the internet.
