My knee woke me up this morning, throbbing aching, swollen. Stupid arthritis stemming from surgery 15 years ago. So took two ibuprophin and went back to bed until it kicked in, doing slow stretches to get the synovial fluids moving in there again.

Still got my housework done however, including the dishes and washing out dog food storage containers because we're filling those today. Groceries today as well, which is good, because I think it's a bad thing when the dogs' morning gushy food smells good enough to eat. My body is crying out for BEEF. Hopefully we can catch some on sale, otherwise we'll make due with hamburger. We're going to go to McDonald's for lunch because Caedy gets half off so it's the cheapest thing for us (and I can get BEEF).

And we have a roast for dinner tonight. Didn't get the hamburger because it was too expensive. I refuse to pay $3.79 a pound for hamburger when I can pay $3.99 a pound for roast.

          hamburger.

A lot of the time, our dogs eat better than we do, but that's only because I'm the cook. ;)

and not hamburger. But I need the beef right now. It's not an option.

but! I can get 7%, organic raised, fresh ground in a cleaned machine from one of my hippie-dippie-yuppie groceries. I buy a bulk 5# and patty it up at home, what, 75 grams on the kitchen scale (that's about 2 2/3 oz) and into the freezer.

Mostly for teh kiddo, one homeburger (w home-made buns, so no sugar or chemicals there) every other day.

this is the kid who subsists on 3 basic "entrees", and has for years, sigh. he does eat other things, but most days it's PB tillas and cheese tillas OR PB tillas and a homeburger (for lunch and dinner).

"tillas" here are whole wheat (!) medium soft taco size. PB is Adams, cheese is Kraft American squares (the one with no individual slice plastic wraps and that appears to be actual cheese, at least not oil-and-water suspension like most of the other sandwich cheeses!)

"real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...

persnickety nephew that his uncle and I were thinking about becoming vegetarians.

He seemed alarmed.  Wanted to know if that meant we would HAVE to eat vegetables with our meals.

Now he has a little daughter even more persnickety about what she'll eat than he was when he was a kid...
