  •  Any regulatory agency has to jot only write (0+ / 0-)

    the regulations...they need inspectors and enforcers.  The FAA has people whose primary function is one or the other, but Air Traffic Control also acts to some extent in both of those capacities.  Yes, they facilitate some of the things the airline needs to do, as far as infrastructure.  But they also severely limit the airlines plans, with slot controls, flow controls, metering programs, and closing off airspace or airports when they feel it is necessary.

    Forget the ski patrol...try driving to the store to get some milk with a police officer sitting in your back seat, telling you what route to take, how fast to go, which way to turn, when to slow down, and where to park...pointing out pedestrians along the way, and puddles.  And then come back and tell me how regulatory that was.

        All infrastructure?  Or just transportation?  Or just road transport?  Or is this just snark?
