    that when they turn 18, all their legal hassles are on them - you will no longer be held responsible for anything they do.

    If you liked them when they were 12, that disposition will return.  My firstborn's act cleaned up so fast when she turned 18 that it was six months before I could talk to her without wanting to laugh.

    She's 35 now, with a 7-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy.  The granddaughter has a personality that's a little more prickly than my secondborn's - which probably means she won't be much more trouble as a teen than she is now.  The grandson is sweet-tempered and occasionally cranky - I think he might be smarter than his sister, but he's really too young to tell.

    Strength and dignity are her clothing, she rejoices at the days to come; She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
