    'people' is that you can't put a corporation in jail when it kills someone.  Very well said.

      which have severe transgressions. "Freeze" their profits.

      Or, my favored approach, simply imprison the Board of Directors.  They are responsible for corporate actions.

      Try the corporation as one entity -- the corporate person -- and imprison the board -- the responsible corporate people.

        listening to cable news carry on about whether or not the suspect will ever agree to talk unless the death penalty is taken off the table.

        In a way, this is what corporations (and politicians) do all the time - don't even agree to come to the table to negotiate until specific, often major, demands have been met.

        How is this a way to have meaningful dialogue?

        It's amazing what people will do to others in the name of themselves.
