      my grades, which has to be changed periodically, but it could be what makes it secure is the history function. I can go in and see what all the grades were at any previous time, supposedly, and compare against stored records in an external hard drive, independent of the online system. If I can do that in my house, certainly the central office can do that too (down in the state capital).

      Man o man, when I think back to paper grade books... In spite of all the personal calculating necessary, and fear of losing it (or spilling coffee), I did like having the discretion of independent records. On the other hand, nowadays kids and parents can see all their scores at any time, so they have no excuse for being behind or unprepared. On balance the public grading system has saved me a lot of trouble dealing with irresponsible students (and helicopter parents).
