  •  My favorite Cacamp quote- (38+ / 0-)

    Spot on.

Americans love to think people come here because the USA is so fucking wonderful. That's wrong whether or not you can admit it. I know the people plus I'm Indian myself and my daughter is married to a Mexican man. All of them without exception would prefer to live in Mexico but come here out of necessity. Americans are a chavinistic bunch and they're brainwashed with that 'exceptionalism' bullshit so I don't expect to convince you... but it' true. Most Mexicans would rather live where they don't have to face the constant racism and discrimination and white superiority, a place where their language is spoken and they know the customs and culture. Believe it or not.
My second favorite is humorous & re: Wounded Knee-
    another smoked salmon story
during the siege of Wounded Knee in 1973 we were on very short rations, mainly beans once a day and little else for the warriors, though we still made sure the children ate well. About the time I was completly sick of beans and pan bread some guys from the northwest tribes showed up and guess what... they were carrying many pounds of smoked salmon my personal favorite fish. The bad thing was it was my responsibility to divide up the foods the caravans walked in to us each night.

I admit I was weak and couldn't resist the temptation and as I divided up the food to the four kitchens we had I kept tearing off pieces of salmon and popping it in my mouth. It was so damn good after weeks of fasting and beans I soon overdid it... do you-all know how rich and oily smoked salmon are? I couldn't believe it when my stomach began to rebel and I commenced to retch, I tried as hard as I could not to throw up but all of a sudden I had to race outside and barf up my whole load! Damnit! I lost my whole ration of the best salmon I have ever tasted as the kitchen erupted in laughter. I still remember how dejected I was and to make it worse the warriors teased me for another week as they enjoyed their wonderful smoked salmon.

    GREAT diary Navajo.
