you take a stand, and some people feel they have achieved the hard earned right to hydrate and will do so simply for the act of disagreement they wish to express without the extra effort of eloquence.

I used to get and lose the hide rate button back when "trusted users" had achieved some unfathomable algorithm of recommends divided by comments multiplied by uid plus pootie diary participation minus hydrates.

I've got a few. I tried to be coercive getting people to make donations to a cause I cared about and my comment was offensive to at least three users.

It was innocuous in my head, it was harmlessly unfunny when I hit the preview button, it was a disastrous mistake I couldn't scrub off the monitor even with industrial cleansers.

It's like getting a dent on your new car. After a while you don't notice nor care about it. I've had comments directly replied to by Elizabeth Edwards, so I give not one shit about the three users I insulted into hydrating me.

    Consider this thought:
"Is it to our mutual advantage, or our mutual detriment to foster an environment of discussion where participants are concerned about offending someone with the ability to hydrate them?"

Political opinion is not only for the meek. Disagree with some users here and you'll get your uid written on a sticky note stuck to the side of the monitor and it will stay there for YEARS.

I don't even remember who hydrated me. It was ultimately inconsequential and I was surprised to learn I didn't lose TU status over it. Must have had extra mojo at the time.

Now, I think everyone can hydrate, right?

We've been spelling it wrong all these years. It's actually: PRO-GOP-ANDA
