  •  It was a different era (0+ / 0-)

Eisenhower's address regarding the "military-industrial complex" leaves me thinking the general was a fine man worthy of his highest office.

He warned us. someone wasn't listening or paying attention.

Or just thought to themselves: Fuck him I'm just here for the money

Welcome to Eisenhower's lost nightmare. WWII was just a cakewalk

We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both - Louis D. Brandeis

I actually think that Nixon (although broken beyond repair and the epitome of the Peter Principle) was a Democrat as opposed to this crew of scoundrels and sell-outs.

Eisenhower's world was a different one to say the least. He had just finished Hitler and Tojo. Blood and guts in unpronounceable places post A-bomb and newly minted cold-war Bombs dropping like manna from hell.

Not an historian, but convinced the man did the job he was asked to do.

I don't have an opinion on JFK either. Except for the conspiracy theories on late nite AM radio. When the NPR beg-a-thon is on.

        And Lizard People, of course..
