  •  I had to look up Baucus to make sure he's a Dem (10+ / 0-)

since Kos lambasted him so thoroughly.

Baucus has been a good D on most issues. He has a few bad votes, but if you look at any Senator's record you're going to find a few turds.

This is where Baucus stood in the 112'th congress- I had to highlight him in red to make it stand out

      The data comes from voteview.com.

      Small varmints, if you will.

      •  Appreciate the input. However... (4+ / 0-)

...if I understand voteview's methodology, it's purely numeric (as I suspect an "objective" metric might have to be).
That is, it can't weight by importance.
It's a valid point that Baucus' impact on the ACA may have been more generally negative than all the "good" votes in the rest of his career -- especially if you buy into the theory that his (and Lieberman's) dicking around might have helped create the TeaParty and the 2010 Congress.
And that's without even considering the impact of his regular support of Publican memes.
The damage that FoxNews Dem's do goes far beyond their votes.

      •  It's not just his vote numbers (1+ / 0-)

But his overall corruption. He has such strong ties to healthcare, financial, and energy industries that he has been called the "Senator from K-street". Also, his seniority gives him chairmanship on the Finance Committee, which would otherwise go to the much more progressive Ron Wyden.

Republicans are far more socialist than Democrats. Just because they want to redistribute the wealth upwards does not make it any better.
