A solid track record of kicking GOP ass.

Warren got 54% in a 61% Obama state. Running seven points behind Obama isn't the path to victory in 2016.

        •  A decent point, but Brown was incumbent. (0+ / 0-)

Brown (a) had the advantage of incumbency, and (b) was a much stronger than usual GOP candidate even before he was an incumbet. He had to be, to take Ted Kennedy's seat.

But it was Romney's home state.

            •  Neutral factor. (0+ / 0-)

IIRC Romney quit after 1 term as Mass. gov. because it looked like he could not have been re-elected. And Romney of course  is also from Michigan. And Romney in 2012 was just generally a weak candidate. So Romney being from Mass. might've given Brown a smidgen of a boost, but I doubt it was much of a factor.
