  •  They'll let us in (9+ / 0-)

when the campaign starts and they need canvassers.

Frankly, I'd rather take down Exxon or Goldman Sachs, the way we're taking down RushBeckistan, than elect another "better" Democrat who's going to wind up singing for the bankster choir.

Unfortunately, 'conservadems' have a lock on the party where Mr. M and I live.

We've tried what you suggested.  It was not possible to penetrate the small conservative clique that runs the Dem Party in this County (and town).

I'm sure that you guys know that in many states, the Democratic Party pols are all conservatives, too!

Never mind just the party bureaucracy.

Seriously, there is no real difference where we live in policy pronouncements or substance between most R's and D's--only style and rhetoric.

Both my Republican Senators have worked with the Gang of Six (and Eight)--IOW they are the same ideological bend as this Administration--corporatist, or so-called centrists!

Heck, Senator Corker ran to the 'left' of the Democratic Senatorial candidate.

The Democratic Senatorial candidate actually filmed a campaign ad from a Church Pew.

      We were mortified!

But good luck to those who can penetrate the Dem Party structure in their area.  It is the only hope!

You'll think you've been let in, that you're valued, etc., but once the election is over, reality returns, the cigarettes are smoked then those on top roll over and go to sleep, only to sneak out of the bedroom at the crack of dawn without a backward glance.

      •  Hey, I'm certainly realistic that it is not (1+ / 0-)

        feasible to do this, everywhere.

As I pointed out, it would basically be an impossible task where I live.  We know--we tried it.  And we worked with a group of lefties--DFA Chapter members.

And we're in a major university town, LOL!  So much for 'liberal' academia.  ;-)  Mr. M and I were always 'far to the left' of our colleagues.

And it's even a 'myth,' as far as I'm concerned that academia has 'left' leanings, anymore.  With all the Centers of Excellence, etc., funding research activities, many public universities are hard to distinguish from corporations.

Having said that, I believe Roger had a 'success story,' and I imagine those in somewhat 'bluer' localities have them, as well.

Frankly, I'm not sure what other options we have, at this time.  ;-)
