We have to research the connections between lobbyists and the congress critters they own. We have to buy ads in newspapers, radio, television to hit those congress critters hard, not only when they are campaigning, but constantly, so their name becomes associated with sleaze and corruption. We need to fund progressive think tanks and develop experts on call for talk radio, television interviews, authoritative position papers and white papers, and letters to the editor campaigns. We need to get some viral e-mails circulating.

So: can we put something like that together here at Daily Kos, and fund it through Orange to Blue or a similar mechanism? I'm not suggesting we match the multi-billionaire oligarchs. We don't need to. While we still have a ballot box, truth and a few bucks will outweigh lies and a lot more bucks. But without those few bucks, we are talking to ourselves.

effective except for specific political campaigns and for giving us the info for where to go. The Color of Change, IMO has been extremely effective in this type of endeavor. We could use it or a similar mechanism. They use the power of money to effect change. Corporations are loathed to put the money out where people are pissy. So I suggest we get extremely pissy about lobbying.
