  •  I wouldn't expect the Corexit itself (5+ / 0-)

    to cause very many health problems - IMO the 2-butoxyethanol is probably not an issue here, although if you did decide to replace it there are many other couplers that could be used instead.

    Problems would more likely come from toxic components of the oil being dispersed that would be made more bioavailable because of the much higher water-oil contact area after dispersion.

    One other imponderable that hasn't been considered is that it's highly unlikely that anyone knows what the emulsification properties of Corexit are under the temperature, pressure, and salinity conditions that existed at the wellhead.
