  •  But I DON'T KNOW how many people (1+ / 0-)

have gotten sick from this. Capisce?

Your link doesn't say. I've found nowhere that says. 100? 1,000? 10,000? 100,000? More? 50 people in a town of 1,000? 100? Nobody that I can find says. Or even a percentage, if not solid numbers.

I'm not casting doubt, I'm looking for something solid, or at least a solid feel.

I understand a high proportion of direct workers themselves have been showing health issues. (The Newsweek says "100s, maybe 1,000s"). That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking about the general populace.

Again, the sites I've found -- and I go looking, and I'm very very good at finding info  -- are small, anecdotal, refer to "many people" with no details, and often will drop in an Alex Jones type statement just in the course of writing, not necessarily connected to the Gulf. (Note the difference between "CT" and "CT-tinged").

I have no trouble believing that such a problem exists, and on a wide scale. I am looking for an authoritative source -- some scientific institute, some Press outlet -- which has done an actual headcount, a broad-based study.

Do you have that or not? Absent that, do you live in a neighborhood where you know for a fact that x number/percentage of y residents are sick with these symptoms workers have? Do you work in a school where x number of students are sick? Are you a lawyer with x number of people filing suits? Are you a hospital worker who sees an influx of people with these symptoms?

Solid research is what I'm looking for. Absent that, I ask questions instead of making assertions.

    Get it?

    •  I think you're looking for a comprehensive (0+ / 0-)

study that will take years to do, and will probably be corrupted by monied interests anyway. In the mean time, we're stuck with the thousands of reports, testimony, anecdotal evidence, and projections from the people there.

As is always the case, some of that information will be flawed. But a lot of it isn't. And in appraising the matter, common sense is required.

      •  I've not seen thousands. (0+ / 0-)

I've seen dozens. The dozens clearly suggest thousands, even many many thousands. But I'm looking for one danged "I'm a nurse in a small town and I've seen this many." "I'm a reporter and I saw these many"

I want something solid so when I talk about it I don't have to deal with bullshit dismissals (see my remarks about Fukushima I think in this thread I started). My personal bias is "of course this has to be a health disaster and emergency." But that's not enough to talk about a thing in public spaces.

So you will see me keep asking the question. Someday, I'll get what I'm looking for.

And btw, yes I see convincing anecdotes but then in the text I'll see "just like the false flag of Oklahoma City, the media...." That's why I can't go to that as backup.
