the only FPrs who occasionally write on climate are Meteor Blades and Laurence Lewis; Markos derides it as a pet issue; and yesterday he was rushing out a brand new petition to draft a pro-coal, pro-Keystone XL candidate. And a lot of DKos people share his excitement.

Obama as a Senator used to talk about "clean coal." Why? He is from Illinois and we have a shit load of coal here. I don't think a lot of folks know this, but we got more coal then you can shake a stick at. It is a different quality then what is in say WV, but it is mined from under a corn field. We don't have to blow up a mountain to get at it.

Not saying it is a "good" idea, just saying.

In IL you have this area, where I live, called "downstate." It is the southern part of the state and where the coal is. Mostly rural.

You come down here and slam coal you won't get many votes. I might vote for you, but not many other people. And that is why Obama running for Senate got on the "clean coal" bandwagon.

When opportunity calls pick up the phone and give it directions to your house.
