  •  I've been not far behind (9+ / 0-)

someone who's pulled that cross-four-lanes-and-gore-point-to-get-to-exit bit. At a fair speed, too. I think I made the baby Jeebus cry with my language.

I always hope that they lose their transmission or their timing belt during an illegal maneuver.

My last "accident" was several years ago, coming N on I-81 from volunteering in a free dental clinic in Appalachia.  I was on an upgrade going about 65  in the left lane of two, having just passed a tractor trailer.  Suddenly the guy in front of my swerved and jerked his car partway into the shoulder and then back into the right lane. My eyes followed him for 1/2 a second looking to see how to avoid him, and when they came back on the road, there was a huge "gator" - section of truck tire tread - across my lane.

There was no way to stop and in less than a second I decided I was not far enough in front of the tractor trailer to cut in front him.

So I had to drive over it.

I was not charged for that accident.

I could still drive the vehicle, although the underside was damages, and a number of sensors destroyed.

You NEVER want to drive over debris.
