  •  If Hillary runs with Dean, Castro, or Warren (1+ / 0-)

she'll get my vote somewhat more enthusiastically.  She gets it begrudgingly with a generic VP.  I was less than happy with some of the things said by her and her surrogates about Obama in the 2008 primary.

but a Hillary/Dean or a Hillary/Warren ticket is a ticket to codgerdom. ALL are too old. But since Hillary will not be the candidate, it's moot.

      •  Meh, age is irrelevant. (0+ / 0-)

Mental acuity is the important part, and all three of them are still on top of their mental game.  Old or not, none of them would be a Reagan.

        •  No, it is not irrelevant (0+ / 0-)

You cannot run a grueling campaign or keep up the workload of the presidency on pure mental acuity.

          •  Depends on who it is (0+ / 0-)

Satchel Page pitched 3 innings in the majors in his sixties (and maybe older, he lied about his age all the time)

So, you never know what you're getting.

            •  Yeah Jason Kidd is 40 still in the NBA, Go NYK (0+ / 0-)

But hes a back up, and he doesnt start.

And a baseball game is 9 innings, Page pitched a 1/3rd of a game, and someone had to come in and finish the job.

Is that the analogy you wanted, that Hillary could start the job but would need to be replaced..... that Hillary wont be able to go the distance.

Well, I don't count on Hillary wiffing a side.

                Though we've had a 101 run a marathon:

But if you want more fitting, non-athletes who performed late into life, then we have to remember the realities of both the office and what we are asking them to do.  I seriously doubt Hillary is going to be running any marathons, etc.  Should she pick a youthful VP if she gets the nom?  Yes, I think so.   But being in mid-60s right now isn't quite the same thing as being tied to a wheelchair unable to perform ;)

                •  Americans dont elect presidents that old (0+ / 0-)

                  Reagan was the outlier.

Millennials are a larger and larger voting block.

          •   Dems elect POTUS's in their 40's & 50's (0+ / 0-)

            GOP- 50's & 60's.

the US only rarely elects someone as old as Reagan, and Hillary would be 70 in her first year, just like Reagan.

    •  time for new blood (0+ / 0-)

Almost every year since 1980, we've had someone in the Executive branch with the name "Bush" or "Clinton".

I'm not a big fan of dynasties.

Anyway, the reason I backed Obama in the primaries was because I had already lived through the first Clinton disaster and didn't want another (though oddly enough that's what we got anyway, since Obama turned out to be a Third Way Dem clone). So if Hillary runs in 2016, she won't get a dime from me.
