Which is that the data includes recommends, comments, and shares on social media.

... the more letters sent, petitions signed, etc., on that test segment, the more likely the issue will be to make it to a full email list blast.

So added to what Raven is saying, $$ is often not the biggest metric, depending on what the action is asking you to do -- contact people, share, sign a petition that will be delivered, etc.

      •  I do understand that, I truly do. (0+ / 0-)

But, excepting DK petitions, every time I'm asked to sign a petition, my signature is immediately followed by a page urging me to put my money where my clicking fingers are.

So signing petitions has for me become an exercise in frustration and humiliation -- though I realize that was not their intent.  I thought I described my trip to the other side of the issue in an attempt to empathize with those points of view.

(Oh, and I'm not able to contact people, as my voice never recovered after a major stroke.  Social media ("sharing") are just not part of my stripped-down life.)

    •  I believe I said that already. (0+ / 0-)

      "...at least in some cases?"

      I didn't treat this as a black-or-white issue.

I do understand the big picture, as I read Kos' entire post.
